Yes, floppy
disk! It may be slowly fading
from the average users' desktop, but if
you're one of the many organizations that
still have a need for duplicating floppy
disks, you're in the right place. At Ashby,
we haven't forgotten about floppies. We get
a lot of calls regarding floppy disk, and
are glad to be the last bastion for well
supported, tough-as-nails floppy disk
autoloaders.
Floppy disks are
familiar ground for Ashby. We
made our start designing a better solution
for autoloading 8" floppies way back in the
early 80's. Through the 90's, Ashby 3.5"
Autoloaders were used by a multitude of
clients (including Coca-Cola, HP, Xerox,
FAA, Gateway, 3M, Suzuki, Boeing, Honeywell,
and others) and many are still in operation
today (including in-house at Ashby: see
our Floppy Duplication Services section if
you'd like us to take over your floppy dupe
tasks).
Change can be a good
thing, or a not-so-good thing:
YE-Data's end-of-life announcement for their
industry-standard duplication drives has
affected high-speed floppy duplication at
it's core. And the DiskDupe/Allegro
combination, while continuing to be the most
powerful floppy disk duplication solution
available, still requires an ISA slot and a
Windows 98SE or earlier Win/DOS platform on
which to run. Despite the turbulence, Ashby
will be here for the long-haul to help our
floppy disk customers work through the
legacy nature of it all.
Our crystal ball
can't tell us how long there will be a
demand for floppy disk duplicators or 3.5"
diskettes, but you can rest assured that
we'll keep supplying them as long as the
parts and the media are available... plus a
week. |
